For those who doesnot know about it… read on..

For the last two years, I have been working with jsp, asp, struts, etc.. Having a foundation on both asp and jsp, I just wanted to try out PHP, the powerful opensourced scripting language. Simultaneously in Backend, I was working on Oracle, Sql Server and as the day goes on my mind arises a question why you try MySQL.

So Now I downloaded latest versions of MySQL (beta), Apache web server, PHP and manually configured them, as it was the recommended method by opensource geek. I was managed to get it done within a week(not full time). But final desperation hits me, when there php fails to connect with mysql. Surprise to note is that php has removed its support for mysql php in its latest version. I was playing with google and other site, but could not find anything fruitful.
At that time, I remembered a warning note in php installation guide, that goes like “there are 100s All in One Installer available, But we recommend you to install manually”. As I have tried with manual installation, Now Its time to turn my attention towards All in one installer. I have googled in internet/Source Forge, There are many installation available in source forge with different combination of apache, php, mysql, rails(Some day I will try rails) etc.

Solution
It is VertrigoServ that come up with good package of recent versions of apache, MySql, PHP, SQLite, phpMyAdmin. This package is only All in one where I can find recent version of MySQL, PHP compared to others and here to, its not the latest..I got it downloaded from sourceforge and installed in my system(Only on Windows).. wow.. its just amazing.. just three minutes it took to complete the process.. and the pitch was now ready for play.. though it seems like i have wasted so much time, the learning i have had in tweaking previous one, will help me driving this VertrigoServ.

Suggestion
If youre registering in lots of websites/blogs/chats/orkuts, then you have to register in source forge/Wikipaedia, some day you will contribute to the world..

Scrapbook - you can copy anything in any webpage and store locally. working would be similar to storing a bookmark whereas clip of the message will be stored instead of URL, as storing an url is waste sometimes due to changes on the pages in server).

Now lets turn from Mozilla. The world’s popular tool from Microsoft, Visual Basic 2005 is available for no cost. If you dont believe me, you have to take this link and drive straight..

Microsoft has been releasing all its great tool for free to use with certain conditions and the power tools name was tagged with ‘Express Edition’. It would be a good sign of development to the programming world.

Today, this is my first blog using performancing.Its really cool to jot down points while simultaneously browsing, orkutting etc. Fortunately, there is no direct api available to add the blog into yahoo 360(I have to google, more).

Though the three major competitors in database world released their own free edition, MySQL is the only application that is open source . But recently, Its licensing GPLed was questioned by php and php removed its support for MySQL in its package. However, MySQL manage to get back to the situation.(Yahoo,Google Adwords… etc uses MySQL)

Oracle sees everything in the world having db as eyes. To jot down a point, first step is they will do is to create a table. Thats funny and also logical. As per my knowledge, its primay focus is promoting Java there by its Application server (OC4J). Oracle not only provides database for free, also its entire set of tools, Oracle Developer Suite also available free. (Most of the banks)

MsSQL Server, when everyone goes free, one cannot stay charging money for usage, Ms SQL Server is mostly used with microsoft related application.

Recently, Oracle takes leads the race with lots of acquisition and its features. Espescially, stored Procedures, packages and jobs, they introduced followed by others, to make it standard.

Another one sad note for a big company is they bring something new to pitch, but eventually there would be some standards committee would be formed which states the big company fails to comply with standard. Espescially, microsoft has experienced lots in this way. And so, they deserve it.

So you have got three free powerful Database, all for free. None is no lesser or worser than the other. Though my Favourite would be Oracle, I would be opting Mysql because of large number free web hosting service offering it..
