India has 3G Wireless Broadband (with free all India Roaming) for almost 2 years by now. Earlier (or even now), Internet has been looked as tool that can be accessed from a corner of the room, that ideology, broke when wireless router came in, 3G Wireless Broadband extends wireless Broadband beyond just internet hotspots.

I have been with Reliance Netconnect for an year. Yesterday, I switched my connection to BSNL EVDO Data Connection. Here is the My Speed Test Result of BSNL EVDO from Urapakkam.

Unlike the Wired Connection, Speed Test Result of Wireless Broadband, varies based on proximity to Tower and position of USB Device. Comparing to my earlier Reliance Netconnect, BSNL Speed is relatively Slower (But not the worst) While More Value for money, than Netconnect.

After watching the movie, “Day After Tommorrow” for almost an hour, I told Pandian not to go to office on day after tommorrow.

He asked me “why? Are you Nutz?. Do you think world is going to end day after tomorrow?”.

I said “Buddy! I am not so crazy as you, to think like that. I just wanted to remind you that day after tommorrow is Krishna Jayanthi, which is a national holiday”

Pandian thought for a second about his misunderstanding, not wanted to accept his defeat (in war of words) immediately said ” Why the hell Krishna Jayanthi is a National Holiday, Did Krishna Bought Independence as Gandhi did?”

Immediately came the reply, “First tell me Why the Gandhi Jayanthi is National Holiday, Is Gandhi, a God (Fish/Lion) who took ten avatars to save the man Kind?”

Pandian started crying “Ayyo Saami! Aaala Vidu! Govindha GooooVindha”

While Me, “Happy” even more than Gandhi/Krishna as they themselves didnt had holiday when they were alive

Most of you all, have heard about Kerala House Boat.

Yes. Its one the favorite place for tourist allover the world, especially for honeymoon and leisure trips.

Last year, I had a thrill and excitement to enjoy the House Boat in Vembanad lake.  I am happy and proud of being there in Kerala(Alapuzha), which did a great job in several movies Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya .

Three weeks back, I bought a brand new DVD player, Onida DFX-7410.  Using AV1 port(RCA), I connected the DVD player to TV(SAMSUNG CS21M50MEELXTL) and when a DVD was played, everything was perfect, except for the color. The color was flickering.

At first, I give my thought, over the probable causes of this fault. It has to be one of the following.

1. Faulty DVD Disc
   This was ruled out,when I tried with several other DVD Discs. All the DVDs faces the same pattern of color Flicker.
2. Faulty Video Cable / AV Port of DVD Player
   This again was ruled out, when I took the DVD player to my neighbour’s home and played the DVD. There, the picture is fine without any color flicker.
3. Faulty AV Port of TV
   This was the last one in the list, I doubted on this, as the TV was 2-3 years old.
   The TV has 3 AV Ports: AV1, AV2 and Alternate RCA port for AV1. I tried connecting the AV cable to each of the three RCA ports, the same color flicker issue persists. So, I assumed the common circuit for all the AV port needs servicing.
   But this cause was ruled out when I connected my Camera Sony Cybershot DSC W300 to the TV using AV1 port, the Picture is brilliantly clear.
4. What’s that? Its DVD Format (NTSC/PAL)
   So there is something, that causes the issue when the DVD player is connected to the Samsung TV.

   Today, I googled to check about cause of the TV color flicker, I came to the yahoo Answers. Immediately, I switched on the DVD player/TV. I was looking for NTSC/PAL in TV/DVD Player ‘Settings”. I couldn’t find any option in TV, but in DVD player, there is a dedicated button ‘N/P’. I toggled it from PAL to NTSC, that resolves color flicker issue.

   So What really happened was,
   DVD Disc that I have played is of Format NTSC, while my TV is PAL one. My DVD Player needs to be set as NTSC to read the NTSC disc and convert the video to PAL so that my TV can understand.
   In the case of my nieghbour, His TV is an pseudo Systems, it can automatically handle PAL/NTSC, that explains why it worked in his home without setting up NTSC mode.

   Though India is the country where PAL is the Defacto standard, It doesn’t matter when it comes to DVDs. What really matters is that DVD format NTSC/PAL and DVD Region codes.

English is such an alien Language, by then, I was standing outside the corridor of an Auditorium at around 8:00 PM. In another 5 minutes, I have to give a speech on Pollution Control, the topic that just popped in the mind of the NCC Officer, a minute back.

My Name is Arun, first Year engineering Student, a NCC (Navy) Cadet.  I have been wondering what to say about  “Pollution Control”? Its not that difficult topic to speak about. But my  mind doesn’t go beyond the first line.  ” Pollution can be classified as Air  Pollution, Land Pollution and Water Pollution. And Pollution.. “. Many words are appearing in mind, but none of them falling together as a sentence.

I have heard lot of times, ” English is just a language of communication “, and I know it by heart, but somehow I believed that English is a flawless language and everything in it is facts,  scientific & perfect.  This belief is blocking my words to form a sentence with the grammatical rules. ( Anyway, now, I am breaking this paradigm, in this blog )

I was praying to God,  for the last ten days, this moment should not come. Yes,  Ten days back, We started playing this game in our NCC Camp @ Naval College Of Engineering, Lonavala, Everyday, between 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Our own NCC Officer will say a topic to a cadet and the cadet has to come with as speech in five minutes. The Main objective is to enable everyone to overcome the stage fear, i.e., the fear of the unknown.

Having my name starts with ‘A’, I was very lucky, because the game is started in the descending order.  So, on the first day, I made some calculations and as per my calculations, I am not going to take seminar in this camp next 10 days, as only 60 students can take seminar in ten days while i am 96th person. But my happiness doesn’t lost for long, as on some days, this game was played for more than two hours.

Finally, I am here. the last minute has already started ticking. I was trying to defrost my excitement so that I can have a clear thought on the topic, but not of any use. Now I understand, how it feels like, being under pressure.

I remember on the 3rd or 4th day,  My Friend, Guru has given the speech. While he was elaborating his topic, he has used the repetitive word ‘I Mean’ several times. And at the end of his speech, Almost everyone of us had a laughter, when the Judge announced, that he used the filler word for 94 times.

Now I realize, he is far far better than me ( Feeling guilty!! ). The clock has finally stopped at five minutes. I stepped inside the auditorium and walked straight to Chief Officer. I said ” Good Evening Sir. I am going to speak on the topic ‘Pollution Control’, Can I have your permission, Sir?’, that’s most obvious question, for which he nodded. I turned towards the audience. There I am,  looking at my friends and the girl who I wanted to impress ( In fact, Infatuation !!).  I said

‘Pollution can be classified as Air  Pollution, Land Pollution and Water Pollution. Air Pollution is the pollution that is caused on Air. Air Pollution is…..!!!!@@@@@????%%%####’.

I was staring at the audience, not knowing what to do and what to say. After a long pause, the NCC Officer helped me, and let me go to my seat, that’s a graceful exit.

On a lighter note, Just tell me, What can a Tiger do, if its available for 4 Rs ? that’s a healthy snacks. right?
