For the Last 22 years, I was under the conspiracy that, Hindhi is the National Language of India. Just 4 days back I came to know that India doesn’t have National Language.
I felt ashamed. How come I was not sure of this small fact?.
Thank God.. Its not only me, my friends too. They were also under the thought that Hindhi is the Raastra Bhasha of India.. I felt very happy.. Because now I was a better Indian than them..
Also, I can safely conclude, more than half the population of India were under this conspiracy. Come On, India.
I dont know who has first imprinted this thought in my Mind.
When I was doing first year in College(Tamil Nadu), we went to NCC Naval Camp to Lonavala(Maharashtra). Most of us, dont know Hindhi. At that time, we were offended by Naval Person ( I dont remember his name / cadet) . He asked “Are you all Indians?”. He added that “Hindhi is the National language of India. so every Indian should know it.”
I felt offended. but I never gave thought over it at that time.
But Now, Its was really surprising for me to hear that India never had a National Language. This explains How India give importance to its each of its constituent languages. Long Live India…
If you also under this conspiracy.. Cheers Mate.. just give your comments.
Recently, United Nation has asked India to nominate a language for its official usage. This shows that India was becoming super power. But India was not in a position to suggest one language.

Thanks Sujay..
But That, doesnt make any difference.
See, In the same way, how we choose English, instead of French or Japanese…
people will choose to learn Hindi, than any other indian language..
Even if it is a language, it should not be studied for compulsory reason.
We have got the freedom. right?
change the three language formula ..have the language of the state, English and any other Indian language compulsary (which the student can choose)
Thanks for having a discussion. I understand your argument, we were looking India in different dimension.
Also, I am not prejudiced against Hindi. I see Hindi as just another language. Soon, I would give a try writing in Hindi here..
I can counter your poor illiterate argument… lets say a bihari migrates to tamil nadu for road labour and is convicted for a crime… will proceedings in tamil/english be fair from his perspective? – that problem exists in current system – hence argument rejected
majority of current americans are not native americans, while majority of indians are native indians… hence invalid argument in that respect.
the ideology of indian secularism is all wonderful, but it is the most abused – accepted
telugu-french example – i think it is irrelevant.
i dont get the ‘or indian’ , ‘or man’ funda…
my contention (if i havent been clear earlier) is that the office proceedings need not follow the national language at all(i remember saying language shouldn’t be forced, language should remain a matter of individual choice). I dont give a damn if hindi is accepted as the national language or not.. i ‘know’ that hindi is the national language and no other ‘indian’ language comes close to its status. that’s just me. but dont you think you are being heavily prejudiced against hindi? i can understand that the mentality of certain people who propagate hindi is wrong(like the Dhulekar person), but given a scenario without such elements, dont you think hindi deserves more than any other language to enjoy the status of national language?
anyway this thread has grown over 15 reps… and anything more will only mean heavy transgression… so for this topic i will seal arguments from my side. (damn its been a long time i argued over nothing
